Before starting a training course to become a private helicopter pilot, the Marmion Aviation team advises to conduct an initiation flight.
This first contact with the machine is the ideal approach to allow the trainee to quickly take pleasure and appreciate the finesse necessary for driving.

  • A pre-flight inspection of the helicopter;

  • A debriefing at the end of the session summarizing satisfactory areas and areas for improvement.

PRIVATE HELICOPTER LICENCE PPL

A private helicopter license PPL (H) is the ideal solution for those looking to fulfil their passion for flying. You can admire the earth from the sky, with its changing seasons and colours, move easily from one region to another and share your pleasure with your passengers. This could be your dream come true!

The private helicopter pilot license PPL (H) allows you to perform, without remuneration, captain’s (CBD) or co-pilot’s duties on any helicopter, including those carrying passengers and cargo. The pilot may exercise these privileges in the context of his profession, on the condition that the flight is only incidental to the exercise of his profession.

Conditions for obtaining the PPL-H license:

be at least 16 years old at the time of the first solo flight (without an instructor on board);
• be at least 17 years of age during the flight test;
• be declared fit to fly during the aeronautical medical examination (Class II) by a licensed physician;
• pass the theory examination;
• for a student with no experience (
ab initio), have a minimum of 45 hours of instruction;
• for an aircraft pilot, have a minimum 39 hours of instruction
• (if 60 or more flight hours as captain);
• pass the practical examination (flight test lasting around 2.5 hours).

Training program:

theoretical instruction (theoretical or individual classes);
• a minimum of 45 hours of dual flight;
• 10 hours of solo flight including a minimum of 5 hours navigation, including navigating 100 NM with 2 landings at 2 different aerodromes.

For the license, the theoretical exam, in the form of multiple choice questions, includes two sets of tests:

Common tests:

– Regulations,
– Human performance and its limitations,
– Meteorology,
– Communication.

Specific tests (helicopter):

– General knowledge of the aircraft,
– Principles of flight,
– Flight performance and planning,
– Operational procedures,
– Navigation.

TYPE QUALIFICATION

Robinson 44:

The type rating Robinson 44 allows you to exercise the privileges of your license on an R44 helicopter.

THEORETICAL TRAINING PROGRAM:
Theoretical training consists of 4 modules of 2.5 hours, 10 hours of type specific training in total.
This training will be validated by a multiple-choice examination consisting of 100 questions and lasting 1.5 hours.

PRACTICAL TRAINING PROGRAM:
During the practical training you must complete at least:
– 6 hours of flight instruction on a Robinson 44.
– minimum 1.5 hours’ aptitude test flight on the type with an examiner.

Airbus H120 Colibri :

The type qualification H120 allows you to exercise the privileges of your license on an Airbus H120 Colibri helicopter.

THEORETICAL TRAINING PROGRAM:
Theoretical training consists of 16.5 hours of type specific training.
This training will be validated by a multiple-choice examination consisting of 100 questions and lasting 1.5 hours.

PRACTICAL TRAINING PROGRAM:

Initial turbine:

During the practical training you must complete at least:
– 6 hours of flight instruction on a H120 Colibri.
– minimum 1.5 hours’ aptitude test flight on the type with an examiner.

Additional turbine (if already in possession of a QT Robinson):

During the practical training you must complete at least:
– 4 hours of flight instruction on a H120 Colibri.
– minimum 1.5 hours’ aptitude test flight on the type with an examiner.

NIGHT FLIGHT TRAINING

Our school is also qualified to train you for the night flight qualification on your license.

Fifteen hours of flight time is required as part of this training.

QT EXTENSION

MARMION HELICOPTERE

Marmion Aviation offers an FE (H) examiner qualified in the type of machine that corresponds to you.

The holder must have completed at least 2 flight hours during the year (extension test included) and a test with an examiner in the 3 months preceding the end of validity of each QT.

QT RENEWAL

When the QT is out of date, re-training will be offered by our school based on experience and the expiry date of the QT.

Then a flight with one of our examiners (FE) can take place.

For QT over 3 years out of date full QT training is required.

Marmion Aviation offers an FE (H) examiner qualified in the type of machine that corresponds to you.

CONFINED AREAS

MARMION HELICOPTERE

Marmion Aviation offers training in confined areas (landing ground recognition).

This training is done after the private helicopter pilot license PPL (H) and allows you to land in areas other than aerodromes. It will allow you to acquire the techniques and procedures necessary to recognize a landing site other than an aerodrome.

A minimum of 8 hours of theoretical training on the ground and 5 hours of practical flight training are required to validate this qualification and obtain the helipad card.
